Planning to take a part time degree under one of the private institutes (PSB's Coventry Uni / SIM's UOL) and was wondering would it assist my career path?
Currently working full time! :)

Anecdotally, some of my friends who studied at private institutes have told me that there some employers who tend to disregard private degrees.
That being said, I have seen a few private degree holders at my current and previous jobs, and they seem to be doing very well, so i guess your mileage may vary!

Congratulations on having the foresight to improve your employability! Before considering private degrees, I would offer an alternative approach to first begin by asking yourself what you hope to be doing later down the line in your career. Once you have a better idea, it's good to figure out what is required to get there. A simple this-or-that comparison (and this is not a dichotomy!) would be whether you need competencies (i.e. actual skills like excel, python, css, html etc.) or certification (e.g. an MBA, MSc, MIM) to get to where you want to be, and optimizing your resources ($, time, energy) to fast track your path to attain the career goals you have.
But of course to answer your question, local brand recognition for public universities ESPECIALLY for NUS/NTU/SMU is more favourably recognized. As an aside, I don't think most employers discriminate due to elitism, which was what I assumed prior to graduating from uni. I've spoken to hiring managers who have anecdotally cited poor work performance and/or aptitutde to learn on the job from candidates hailing from fringe universities. I can't speak for overseas opportunities as I have not endeavoured in that space. I will say however, that I am a firm believer in being a product of your choices and not your environment. Being a straight-A student regardless of uni, making the effort to grow your network, and seeking out opportunities will put you in a better position than if you hinged the success of your educational efforts on the school you choose to attend.
Wishing you all the success in this journey of yours!
