How many stocks are considered a good amount to hold in your portfolio?

I would like to know that im not over diversified and putting too little eggs in too many baskets.

I adopt a core satellite portfolio investing approach. I invest in globally diversified portfolio/fund for my core, and thematic portfolio/fund for my satellite. With that, I have achieved diversification, and can affort to play with individual stock pickings. How many stocks to hold would become a personal choice, depending on how much time you have in studying the stocks and what is your area of competency/expertise in your stock research.
