How long did Critical Illness payout from Great Eastern take?

I have been recently diagnosed with Stage 2 Cancer and submitted a claim in Mid February. My GLA had a rider that paid me a certain amount upon diagnosis. So I submitted the claim documents as requested by my agent. However, it's been over a month and my agent said the claim is still under review. Usually how long does this take?

I am actually overseas and was diagnosed overseas. Would this affect the speed?

I also only recently got this policy during March 2020. Would they find this sus?
Thx

Though I'm not from Great Eastern Life and I'm unsure on how long the claim process will take, let me give you some key points to take note of.

Firstly, I will need to understand whether you have any pre-existing medical conditions and whether you have recorded your health status accurately at the point of application.

Secondly, check the insurance policy contract for the list of standard exclusions and waiting period for your insurance policy. Given that you bought this policy in March 2020, you should have completed all the respective waiting period. Nevertheless, just double confirm this point so that we can check it off the list.

Thirdly, you mentioned that your insurance policy has already issued a payout to you. In this case, is there supposed to be further payout that should be paid to you?

If yes, then have you submitted all the requested documents to the insurer? At this point, I will assumed that the medical report is in English as well. Accordingly, check with the agent on the situation and the rough timeline. For the most part, your agent will be in the best position to inform you on the currrent situation, e.g. pending background check, management review. Thereafter, ask your agent to check with the claims department on the timeline. I believe your agent will be in the best position to know what's going on, and to get you a timeline. After all, the assessment may take longer if it is a complex case.
