Can I check,
If I applied for the waitlist on SQ, does this mean that I have to wait till they approve / disapprove me, (when does this happens anyway haha), and it means that if i wait till they disapprove me, I might not be able to buy a normal ticket (if its not available anymore)?

Yes you have to wait until they approve you
It's a queueing system where you register your interest in a particular seat in a particular route on a particular flight. The queueing system opens 350 days before the intended flight day and all results will be known two weeks before the departure date. You will know the results by then

Hi anon,
Yes, you will have to wait for the waitlist to clear.
The policy is that the waitlist will clear no later than 14 days prior to departure.
There is a priority for the waitlist, whereby status matters(e.g. PPS will be ahead of KF Elite Gold)
Best to make alternative plans in case your waitlist doesn't clear, especially during popular travel periods.
