Hello! I'm personally using a messy mix of Google Sheets and Notion which is nice but it's not perfect. No nice visualizations and it's not very "templated", meaning it's very customized for my own usage.

I'm currently building an app to cover all things personal finance, which will include tracking investments, insurance and expenses, as well as many little tools and calculators! If you are keen to share what you would like to have in such an app, feel free to DM me! I'd be happy to have a chat and perhaps build that feature for you if it's something that has value!

Hey there, fellow professionals!

Feeling overwhelmed by the thought of managing your finances while juggling a demanding career and planning for major life milestones? I've been there, and I get it. After helping countless busy professionals take control of their financial future, I can tell you this: solid financial tracking is the key to turning your dreams into reality – whether that's buying your first condo, starting a family, or securing a comfortable retirement.

Now, I often hear people say, "I don't need to track my finances. I always know roughly how much I'm spending." Let's debunk this myth right now. In my years of experience, I've found that even the most financially savvy individuals benefit from detailed tracking. It's not about restricting yourself; it's about empowering yourself with knowledge to make smart decisions.

So, how do I recommend tracking your finances? Here's my approach:

  1. Leverage technology: Use apps like You Need A Budget (YNAB) or Seedly to automatically categorize your expenses. This saves time and gives you real-time insights.

  2. Implement the 50/30/20 rule: Allocate 50% of your income to needs, 30% to wants, and 20% to savings and investments. This simple framework helps you maintain balance.

  3. Set up a separate high-yield savings account: Use this for your emergency fund and short-term savings goals. Watching this grow can be incredibly motivating!

  4. Review and reflect monthly: Set aside 30 minutes at the end of each month to review your spending and adjust your budget as needed. This habit alone can lead to significant improvements over time.

  5. Track your net worth: This big-picture view helps you see your overall financial health and progress towards long-term goals.

Remember, the goal isn't just to track numbers, but to align your spending with your values and life goals. As I always tell my clients, "Every dollar you track is a step towards the life you envision."

Using toshl finance to track daily then collate everything on google sheets too

I use a simple app for my daily tracking and just update on my excel once a month to ensure i keep to my budget. This is really just to monitor my spending habit budgetting goals.

For my Networth, i only update them once every quarter as just to get an idea of where they are headed.

I use google sheets to track different discounts/promotions at my favourite retailers.
