Being in the tech industry or a tech role keeps you at the forefront of change and disruption, which is probably why so many got in, and also why many also got out. I think something that never goes away/out of style/out of trend nor can be replaced is human interaction. E.g top-notch customer service and ability to socialize and influence change without authority, jobs that require such qualities will never be automated.

Work in a company or industry so filled with bureaucracy and red-tape that technology will never find its footing in the organisation. This way, you will never have to worry about losing your job to technology.

Just kidding.

This is a hard question, I also don't know. The common answer is to learn skills and abilities that will differentiate you from the technology that threatens to take your job, but the question is - what will these be?

I think it will vary across industries. In medicine, human touch (some say) is something that can never be replaced by tech, no matter how soothing and gentle you programme your robot's voice (or hand) to be.
