Of course, everyone would want to hire someone with experience. Unless you're a social enterprise, given the choice as a hiring manager, I'm sure you would also prefer someone with more experience.

So you'll need to be able to pivot the learnings from your previous role into something relevant in the new role. Eg. previously you were doing manufacturing of face masks, and you are interested in doing marketing/sakes. Then you should highlight in your role how you helped to boost sales through xxx.

Next, it's also important to be well-read on the new industry you are in. If you are jumping into a new industry as a recent grad/2-3years in, the drive and motivation will be a huge factor for consideration - not that experienced hires dont value it, but they have more to show for in their career.

Lastly, you can network with people on LinkedIn about their current roles and experiences. Asking them for coffee chats and learning from them. Have a great elevator pitch and check if they know anyone that might be hiring in the industry.
