At 16 years old, depending on whether you get an allowance and how much allowance you get, starting to save is simple.

  • Set an amount. It can be small. Say $10 or $20 even.

  • Put that amount aside every time you get your allowance - before you even start spending on anything else. Make it a habit.

  • Over time, if you find that, "Oh saving $10 is so retarded, I can definitely save more" - then good! Just increase the amount you save.

  • The key thing to saving is start small, gradually increase and keep going at it, rather than start big, find it unsustainable, and give up.

To earn income, this one is a little trickier. I'm going to assume you are studying. If you are working, it's a whole different ball game. Being an introvert shouldn't dissuade you from earning income.

  • Find something you're good at and monetise it. Good at music? Give lessons. Good in studies? Maybe tutor someone, impact someone positively.

  • Sell secondhand items to earn a bit of spare cash.

  • Buy new items and flip it. This one is controversial because there are ethical considerations to jacking up resale prices for the same items.

  • Find a part-time job. This is a good way to learn soft skills, gain workplace exposure and see the world.

There you go, some generic suggestions to consider.
