You have to pass the CPF Self Assessment Questionaire first, then sign up for a CPFIS account with any of the local banks. Detailed explanation with link here:

Hi Samson,

For CPF OA, you need to first open a CPF investment account with the local bank. Then, you need to open an trading account with a platform that can link to this CPF investment account. This can be done first even if you have not amassed the minimum of $20K needed to invest OA.

For CPF SA, you can just open an trading account with a platform that can link to your CPF account. Again, you can do this without having reached the minimum of $40K.

I would suggest opening your trading account with one of the CPF approved investment administrators as that will considerably lower your costs of investments due to lesser charges from the bank. The banks will charge based on number of shares, units bought, (e.g. $2 per 1000 shares) etc, wheres an investment administrator will only incur costs due to the movement of the monies (so even if you bought 10000 shares at $1, the transactional cost is only $2 from the bank)

In addition, under the CPFIS-OA, you can only invest up to 35% and 10% of your investible savings in stock and gold respectively, also known as the stock and gold limits. You can log in to your CPF account to see your limits.

You can use your CPF savings to invest in the following investment products.

Do that note that since 1 October 2018, as a new CPFIS investor, you will need to take the Self-Awareness Questionnaire (SAQ) before you can start investing under CPFIS.
