Hi there,
I was actually in a very similar situation as you ever since the COVID-19 virus outbreak has taken over the world and I was also scrambling to look for a way to get a refund through my OTA.
Let me explain how I handled it, hopefully this helps in one way or another!
You would need to know your:
Itenary number, (eg 7516370242055)
Flight booking number, (eg QX2ITU)
Airline (eg Emirates Airlines )
Booking details (email, number)
Step 1: Head over to Expedia
This link here: https://www.expedia.com.sg/service/#/myTrips/25623
You will find that you can select from a drop down menu to see whether your flight is available.
Hopefully you find your airline is in the first list, not the second one.
Step 2: Read your airlines Terms & Conditions for COVID-19
For example for KLM, it does seem like they allow refunds and exchanges here: https://www.klm.com/travel/us_en/prepare_for_tr...
However, because you booked through an Online Travel Agent (OTA) it is better if you go through Expedia for the refund, hence step 3.
Step 3: Submit a refund request
At this link here: https://www.expedia.com/customersupport/travel-...
Get ready your Travel Itenary number and booking number with your flight.
Submitting a cancellation request does not guarantee a full refund. Cancellation policies differ depending upon the airline and if you wish to cancel, not all airlines allow for full refunds at this time.
If your airline does not offer a full refund, our customer support team will contact you to advise you of your options prior to cancelling your booking.
We will aim to confirm to you the amount of your refund within 7 business days.
