Hi Anon, if you're new to investment, you can start by looking at ETFs like the CSPX or QQQ. Stocks are a good way to start but that's if you're willing to have shocks when the stock dips.

For newbies, I'd suggest that you stick with ETFs first before you venture into stocks.

Then again, it's best for you to reflect on what your risk appetite is and what kind of returns you're hoping to get and you can work from there. Stocks are high risk, high reward and if you're not willing to see a portfolio that severely in the red, then you may be a mid-risk/low-risk investor.
