Hi! may i know if it's possible to own more than 1 joint account with SGX? (for example, having a joint account as a son/daughter with a parent, having another joint account with another parent etc)?

  • son/daughter is above legal age limit
  • parent has not much investing experience and is comfortable with son/daughter investing their shared monies
  • is it possible to have a joint account with a friend? (friend, boyfriend, girlfriend, fiancé, fiancée etc)

Hi anon,

From what I know, there isn't really any issue to have multiple joint accounts, although I have not seen any yet. You could have husband and wife, and husband and son, for example. As long as both individuals meet the requirement, the joint account can be opened.

There is also no requirement as far as I know for any proof of relationship to open a joint account, although I doubt anyone would just open a joint account with an acquaintance.

That's a unique case, you may want to contact cdp.
