For daughters, I recommend a bit more. Maybe $1k a month?

I think maybe a few hundred first? and see if there is sufficient? but also depends on how much you have been giving her during her jc/ poly days.

What is the allowance intended to cover?

Hostel | Food | Transportation | Books, Software, Subscriptions, | Stationery | Personal Grooming | Entertainment | Hobbies | Utilities | Medical

A good start would be to identify the needs and then navigate / negotiation / direct your daughter to propose or follow according to your parenting style.
