Realized this answer will be different at different timings. When the bank interest is higher than HDB, everyone who can, says HDB loan. When bank interest are low, ppl say those who take HDB loan are not so smart.
I feel it's back to comfort level and job stability. If very sure can pay for entire loan period, just go for the lower interest. If risk adverse and dunno if can or cannot pay, then HDB loan becoz there's no reason why HDB will take back the home (rare) when owner cannot pay or can pay minimal. Plus HDB is govt (not for profit) unlike banks, so definitely more merciful.
