Grandfather passed away without a will.

My grandfather passed away recently and did not leave a will. He had already nominated his cpf and all his bank accounts are joint accounts with my family. He did not own any other assets other than some stocks in his SGX account current value only 1-2k. My family and I need advice on how do we go about transferring/ selling off this stocks? Is it worth it since the amount is low? Should we consult a lawyer?

Probably not worth it given the small amount left; best if you could discuss together as a family to divide it up. If you want to know how the assets should be split since your grandfather died intestate, then the general principles can be found here as a starting point: What Happens If You Die Without a Will in Singapore? - SingaporeLegalAdvice.com

Typically assets not covered by Will will need to be distributed according to the Interstate Succession Act. It is possible that you could obtain the documents without needing to consult a lawyer, but are you willing to do the research?

Consulting a lawyer can make things easier, but since the remaining balance is 1-2k, and assuming you don't know of any other assets under his name, you may find it not justifiable to get a lawyer's help.
