Getting Life Insurance when I plan to work/migrate overseas

In the next few years, I am planning to work overseas for sometime (a few years) or maybe even migrate. Hence, I would like to get some advice if I should get Life insurance.

Am I just wasting money for these few years while I am in SG or am I eligible for claims/payouts if I am overseas? Thank you so much :)

Hi anon,

Life insurance and CI coverage is generally global (other than if you are in sanctioned countries). You will be eligible for a payout even if you eventually move.

What you might need to do however is to declare tax residency under CRS (Common reporting standards) if you do indeed move, and also provide a copy of the required documents for claims translated to English (if they are not already in the english language) if the time comes.

Getting yourself covered is best approached with a preventive mindset, not a reactive one.

Insurance is for your loved ones and dependents.
