Tbh, would you stay in the same place for more than 80 years even if it's freehold? There would be many issues

At the beginning, you may feel leasehold is more than enough. But freehold will be better fi you can afford it.

I'm 49 and just purchased a condo with 99 year lease.
I'll hold it for maybe 10 years max, then flip to the next, depending on budget. The decay in lease value won't be much compared to capital growth. It's different if your lease is around 60 years or under though, not so many buyers around.

It's a trade off right? Freehold can be more expesive up front, but capital growth can be better. Lease can be more afordable to start with, but may decay with too much time also..

FYI - when your lease reaches ZERO, then you may need to hand the property back to the government, so you need to budget for this.
