En-route to being a Network Architect

I've been working as a network engineer for 7 years. I quit my job last year to study for a cycbersecurity degree. I am currently halfway through the course and considering to go back to work. My goal is to become a network architect/ cloud architect.

I need some advice to as to if its better acquire all the relevant certifications like CCNP / AWS Certified Solutions Architect then go back to work after I graduate?

or

Go back to work and try to get the relevant certifications on the job?

Take Cert first is a waste of time and money. Ccnp require you to retake the exam. But recently they have implemented a new rule which you no need to renew Without taking the exam. But you have to pay more for the course. So either you retake the exam at a lower rate or pay more money for the course to renew.

I think the best way to get an answer would be to search for Network Architect / Cloud Architect on linkedin and chat them up! They are relevant and in the know of what it takes to be one.
