Due to give birth in about 3 months and trying to decide on which hospital to go when I'm in labour. Fellow parents which hospital did you choose and how was the overall experience like?

We are first time parents and this whole process have been very nerve-wracking. If there are any reviews or experiences that fellow mummies, or dads, can share it would really help me and my husband out. If you can breakdown the cost also, we'll greatly appreciate. Thank you.

Had my girl at Thomson medical. Service was good, emergency c sec with total bill after Medisave turns out to be slightly less than $10k.

Firstly, congratulations on your pregnancy.

My wife gave birth (natural birth) about 1.5 years ago at KK Hospital. She and baby stayed at the A1 ward and the service was above satisfactory.

Below is a breakdown of the bill.

2 days delivery package 1,998
1 extra day in A1 ward 499
Ward - nursery 250
Daily treatment fee 150
Daily treatment fee 220
Laboratory investigation 221
Specialised investigation 83
Delivery fee 1075
Delivery related charged 288 (I think this is the epidural)
Drugs/prescription/injection 323
Ward procedures 1133
Consumables 45
Other procedures 489

The total came up to about $7.1k after GST, of which $3k can be paid using Medisave.

The above is for

  • natural birth (adjust upwards if c-section)
  • A1 ward (adjust downwards if you are flexible with B and C, upwards if you want private)
  • includes an extra night in A1 ward (hopefully you don't need this)

The overall experience at KK was pretty good. The A1 ward was clean and well furnished, on par with private wards at private hospitals. The midwives during the delivery were helpful (at least that was what my wife said) and the nurses at the ward (at least the A1 ward) were friendly too.

Wishing you a smooth delivery.
