Does the standard chartered jumpstart debit card charge currency conversion fees?

Is there a fee for purchases done in USD? Also, does the 1% cashback apply for foreign currency transactions?

Thanks!

Hi Anon,

While I haven't used the SC Cashback debit card to make any purchases in USD, this is what I believe is true based on what I've found online:

Yes, you will incur a foreign conversion fee of up to 3.5% charged by Mastercard, based on the SC pricing guide found here.

From the t&cs of the Cashback debit card, all eligible Mastercard transactions are eligible for 1% cashback, so I believe the answer to that question _should _be yes, unless your purchase was for a product/service that falls outside of the range of categories for an eligible transaction (ie financial services).

If you're looking for a way to pay for foreign currency transactions without incurring any fees, you can consider the Youtrip card or the DBS Visa debit card, which are both Multi-Currency cards.

Hope this helps!
