You can expect to invest at least $130,000, at the bare minimum. The exact amount depends on the size of your envisioned restaurant.

Read this comprehensive 12-step guide on how to start a restaurant in Singapore. It covers all the key costs on building your own restaurant business, and takes you step-by-step through the process.

Here are some of the key costs:

  • 3 months rental deposit + reserve cash to meet lease obligations: Min. $40K

  • Manpower: Min. $20K to cover first few months staff salary

  • Cooking equipment: Min. $10K

  • Renovations: Min. $40K

  • Food/drinks stock: Min. $10K

  • Marketing: Min. $10K

Make sure you protect your $130K investment with restaurant insurance, so your money doesn't go up in smoke (literally) if something happens.

Yes. Rental is the killer. Good location $$$ very high. Bad location no customer. Then need to get all the licence to operate, take some time.

I have that idea before, but after calculate, think too risky as covid situation is unpredictable, some of the resturant at shopping mall also closed, deter me.

Just observation, how some people do

  • Some start from coffeeshop then branch out after that open resturant, eg collin grill
  • some start from central kitchen doing for delivery, then branch out to restruant.
  • some just franchise from a well know brand.
