Does anyone have advice on wedding ring budgeting?

For engagement ring, avoid the local jewellery chains like the plague. Their margins are very high and the diamonds (assuming you are getting a diamond engagement ring) are not worth the price you pay. Consider going to boutique places and jannpaul; their selection is excellent for the price and they will give you a tutorial on diamond selection to boot with no obligation.

For diamonds, cut is most important out of the 4Cs.

Do factor in lead time. It may take about 2 months from diamond selection to collection.

For wedding bands, if you like any design from the place where you got your engagement ring from, they may offer a discount on this. Otherwise, places like love and Co are ok as well for simple bands.

Proposing ring or wedding ring? either or I always choose gold ring. Mine was (+-6g 916) costs at $600+.. get a gold ring than a diamond ring it has a better Value in case cash is needed.
