I mean letās be frank here, which services you engage doesnāt require you to make any payment? Yes there will be a fees but based on my knowledge at this point of time thereās no standard rate. But before they can be your PD, during the appointment of PD, PD have to submit a schedule of tasks Ma they intend to carry out for you, should you lose mental capacity, and the fees to be charged for each task. The court will determine whether the fees are reasonable before granting the court order.
PD is required to submit annual report to OPG to account for all decisions and expenses incurred while managing your matters. Under the framework for PD, OPG has the ability to cancel the registration of a professional deputy if required.
Not so sure on what will happen when your saving runs out but theoretically PD has no interest in paying for you because they are not related to you. However due to their role as caregiver, I think they will help you apply for grant/scheme in this event.
If you want a high standard of care then you have to make sure you have that amount before anything happens and if PD comes into picture, you probably canāt tell the difference between high standards or Low standards due to mental incapacity and they will make the decisions behalf as you have granted them the rights to act on your best interest.
Have faith in them to take care of you if you want to engage them because being an caregiver isnāt an easy job and they are accountable for your well being as an PD. Any complains will be review OPG and action/investigation will be conduct
Hope this helps :)
