Online certifications on resumes open doors.

Doing well in the technical assessments gets you through those doors.

Articulating well on what you've learnt keeps you inside the room.

But even with all these, if you can't apply and perform on the job, then you'll be shown out the door just as fast HAHAHAH.​​​

Depends! A course in skills relevant to your line of work from a reputable source/institution should certainly help your resume. Courses on skills less relevant may not value-add much to your resume in a material sense, however don't let that stop you from seeking new experiences and learning opportunities.
