Personal accident - as it suggests, covers for treatment due to accident. Generally I believe the coverage are sufficent for normal GP, outpatient treatments, but not sufficient for hospital stays.
Eg, raining day slip on ground, bus sudden brake causing a fall etc go A&E can claim.
So maybe if an active person, or work requires to travel, or some people's live just plain suay, it may make sense to take up accident plan.
But treatments which are not caused by accidents, then cannot claim accident plan. thats where health insurance may come in.
Health insurance can be subdivided into hospitalisation plan, critical illness, disability plans. Each serves a specific purpose. An equivalent is Medishield life as a hospitalisation plan and Careshield life as disability plan.
Hope this helps.
