Deletion of the name of Joint account holder from a DBS savings account

I want to remove the name of one of the account holders in the joint account from our DBS Account. Please let me know if anyone has done that and the process.

The branch is saying it is not possible.

The option of closing the account and getting a new account number is not viable as I have to change multiple Giro's and inform many parties who do direct debit into the account.

Don't think you can remove name from joint account especially the bank said so. You probably have to go thru the hassle of changing all the GIRO standing orders and informing relevant parties.
