Ask yoursellf : Do I have dependents I am responsible for? No, can my savings last me 6 months or more without a job? Can traineeship help me network to a job?

It is good to know that SG United Skills Traineeship allows you to leave the programme without penalty when you get employed anytime during the 6 months traineeship programme. :)

Hi there,

Its great that you are offered a traineeship position.

It all depends on your current situation. Traineeships are good too if the job is what you really wanted to do. Although the pay and benefits may not be as good as a full timer, you can still gain experience and skills from it.

If you do not mind taking a lower pay, a traineeship can be good if you see it in the long-term. Take it as a investment for your resume to build up relevant skill sets. If income is not your main concern, you can always wait out for more offers.

Personally, I took up a traineeship position as I am lacking in experience. I applied both FT and traineeship but I only got offers from traineeships. The plan for me was to work and upgrade myself during this period so I would be ready for the job market recovers.
You have to remember that you are competing with experienced workers and fresh graduates for full time roles due to the economic situation. As a result, competition may be tighter for full time jobs as compared to traineeships.

Do keep up with the current market trends and most importantly, think about what you are comfortable to do in terms of job scope. Hope this helps and all the best in your job search.

Salaryman at some company

I assume the full-time job has better compensation and job scope than the traineeship.
