Possible if you declare. Might have to pay a higher premium

Hi anon,
ā
Re-insurance guidelines have changed over the past 2-3 years.
ā
I have a client whose mom had both breast and bone cancer (non-metastatic, i.e. separate cancers, which happened years apart), whose application for CI cover 3 years ago was issued at standard, but she is now facing a challenge when she wanted to increase her coverage. Many insurers are tentatively excluding breast cancer coverage.
ā
I'd suggest doing a prelim underwriting to see if an insurer would accept, this helps you to avoid the pain of filling in an entire application only to face the agony of exclusions.
ā
Speaking of which, I did manage to secure standard coverage for the client in the example above, although it wasn't the initial insurer we were looking at. In the end, all she (and I) wanted, was a clean acceptance and no loading.

Yes, it is still possible to get yourself insured for Cancer. For this purpose, you may speak to you...

Hey there, in short, yes you're able to.
ā
You will have to declare this during your application of which then 3 scenarios might occur:
1) Either undergo exclusion (i.e not be covered for breast cancer),
2) Subject to loading of premiums aka pay more premiums or
3) All goes well and you purchase the CI plan as per normal (no exclusion, no loading of premiums hooray!)
ā
All of these are subjected to individual insurers' underwriting process. However, shld scenario 1) or 2) occur, do seek your FA's help to appeal for you during the process.
ā
Hope this helps! :)
