Hi anon,

May I understand what you mean by 'illnesses'?

Typically, if you are worried about cancer (regardless of stage), most CI plans will cover you if there is uncontrolled growth of malignant cells with invasion and destruction of normal tissue (this is for late stage CI, where there is a standard definition).

However, late stage CI cover will explicitly exclude the following:

  • All Prostate cancers histologically described as T1N0M0 (TNM Classification) or below; or Prostate cancers of another equivalent or lesser classification

It may thus be beneficial to have some early CI coverage which will cover early prostate cancer. For example, one insurer's definition for early cancer specifically includes cover for the following:

  • Early Prostate Cancer: Prostate Cancer that is histologically described using the TNM Classification as T1a or T1b or Prostate cancers described using another equivalent classification.

Note that early CI definition is insurer specific.

You will need to check the contract / policy illustration to determine if this condition is listed.

Every insurer may offer a slightly different list of critical illnesses they cover hence do check the policy illustration before you submit an application.
