Recently my child start primary school. There's this online education/learning platform (SLS). We wonder if we should buy a laptop (or tablet) for our child to do her own learning.
Laptop - to get her into typing
Tablet - touchscreen easier for her to manoeuvre
When did you get a device (& which type) for your schooling child?

I think a Dell or HP laptop is more durable than acer.. personally I feel a Dell or HP laptop less than $1k is good enough for home use.. wouldn't recommend a tablet as it's not conducive to n the long run.. buying a laptop also allows the kids to get use of the keyboard which is useful when they go upper primary for school projects

I suggest to get a laptop since she will need to use Microsoft softwares to do her school projects or homeworks. A cheap one will do I personally use lenovo thinkpad, legion, and yoga.

Think laptop is better but pls. make it clear to your child that the laptop is yours and you are lending it to him/ her only for doing supervised work/ play. Giving a tablet only lands up with it being more of a "game & entertainment machine" rather than an educational tool. We only gave our kid his own laptop when he was Sec 4.

I'm still letting my son use a tablet. Even the school is providing them tablets to do SLS or Koobit...

If it is for school, you might want to wait until they get same one so it is easier for them to learn.
