Besides cost, is there any way people can get a sense of the comparison of service among the Electricity Market providers?

How do you actually compare the providers to choose one that suits me the most?

There are only 12 electricity retailers in the market today, some have existed as a Genco (Generation companies) since the start of SP power history.

Here is a TLDR: You can just simply check out the comparison tool we built for people living in Singapore here: https://seedly.sg/compare/open-electricity-market

Qualitative:

  • 1: Reputation of the company (eg Keppel, Tuas, Sembcorp power Geneco YTL, etc) vs the newer ones (Some actually pulled out of the market past the Jurong phase, now they are consumed by the bigger companies)
  • 2: Users reviews of what others are saying, the more reputable ones usually have more reviews naturally because of the sheer volume, eg the big 4

Quantitative:

  • 3: Obviously cost (but it does not vary that much)
  • 4: The decision point is on the type of plan - Fixed price, Discount off regulated tariff or non-standard plans (eg free Sundays, market rate, no contract, save while sleeping etc)
  • 5: Other features to consider (Type of billing - Same SP billing vs provider, Self service portal, Mobile tracking, Require smart meter, solar energy)
