Hi Anon! I've stayed in hall for the past 3 semesters in NTU and I have to be honest that it is very hard to save money whilst living on campus. Although school food is rather affordable, there are times where you do get a little _sian _of school food, hence resulting in ordering grabfood more often. Not to mention the occasional supper nights or hanging out with your friends on some days will cost you more money. Staying in hall also means you have you spend on other daily necessities (i.e tissues, shampoo, etc).
I would say that staying in hall is definitely worth the experience if you can afford it and it gives you the convenience of going to and fro your classes. It also provides a more conducive environment for me to study compared to staying at home. Ultimately it is up to you to weigh the pros and cons of staying in hall and to find the balance in not overspending too :)

If you plan on saving money, do not live on the school campus. Unfortunately, the hall environment is a ripe environment for FOMO-ing, where people will jio you for snack, dinner, supper and everything and you will usually follow, albeit reluctantly.
