Read quite a lot of books on investing and most of them are about the same stuff, instead am hoping to peer through the analyzing of financial statements portion as many teach us the habits/attitude but not the technical part. I have background knowledge on how financial statement works and what the ratios are but am hoping to learn new ways to analyze the financial statements

Congratulations on starting. And no, the principles of Security Analysis is still sound today as it is many years ago. Read Common Stocks and Uncommon Profits and Stocks in the Long Run as well. Both are extremely good reads to provide fundamental psychology to investing.
Investing is not a sprint, its a marathon. And what works with time is a combination of emotional psyche as well as discipline.
