Remember, if your reason for resignation is because of the toxic environment, don't allow room for temptations (be it extra benefits or a higher salary).
If the root problem isn't solved, the situation won't better itself.
If I were you, I would have already raised this with my boss earlier to give him/her a second chance or understand each other better.
If things still didn’t change and I go resign, then it would have been mutual and don’t think I would have had to make up a reason for it.
So yea if you haven’t highlighted this to your boss already, then you should and wait to see any changes in the environment / behaviour. If you have highlighted these points already then you can just say that it’s not working out for you.
If you are just looking for make up reasons then you could say:
I am looking to take a break and gather my thoughts before I decide on the next step.
I just need a break for a few months after this non stop work.
This is not working out for me.
