I buy ALi Baba in HK ~ there is a risk of delist for BABA in US market

As a buy and hold investor, my instinct is to go with HK because it's a lower risk considering:

  • the small risk of delisting in the US (although this is easily mitigated as the stocks are convertible)
  • the risk of currency devaluation - I'm bearish on USD and bullish on CNY (which is what HKD will become within the time I expect to hold the stock), and I am also more likely to rely on CNY in retirement
  • the risk of my dependents facing higher taxes (and taxing processes) upon inheriting my stocks

I have not issues i just invest in the US market

My perspective is chances of BABA delisting in USA is very low. However, the China government clamp down is definitely affecting the massive selling which result in the "nice" price now. The main diff between HK and US, I personally feel is the investor's budget due to the lot size permitted by the 2 diff stock exchange.

If you have enough funds, HK stock is less volatile and not subjected to delisting risk. Otherwise, ...
