Advices to work as a Quant in Singapore?

Hi, I am wondering whether I can jump into the financial industry, preferably a Quant. For context, I am an industrial-PhD (a local university) student and employee who worked as an ML engineer in the aviation industry for more than 2 years before receiving sponsorship for my studies. My research emphasizes the development of AI/ML algorithms. I wonder if I could jump into the financial industry and work as a quant researcher or developer after completing my PhD.
