Hello seedly community!
I will be sharing with you what I would look for when I am searching for a part time job as a student. Throughout the years of experience working part time as a student, I find that time management and making sacrifices for some things in life is inevitable. Hence, finding a part time job based on my personal interest, good pay rate are important pointers to keep myself motivated.
I will rank based on what I look for when doing a job search :
Looking at how much every part time job pays is my very first consideration. Squeezing out pockets of time is already hard enough, be it few hours a week or a day. Time is precious so looking for a higher paying part time job is a better and smarter option.
My first few part time jobs were paying roughly at a rate of $7.50-$10 max. I was mainly working at the F&B sector because it is more flexible and I get to pick up new skills such as doing latte art. Now that times have changed a little, students can earn at least an average of $8.50/hr. Do your research, don't settle for less.

2. Other than $$, what else can I gain ?
Aside from studying, gaining and building new skills are important. I would choose a job out of my personal hobby or interest. This can really keep you motivated and have fun at the same time. It will feel like you're paid to learn. Money is just a way to gain knowledge, a purpose. For us, everyone needs money. To survive, you must have money. Our knowledge can create more wealth for us to a greater extent. All are essential.

Perks of working in F&B is definitely the food, you may get to eat your favourite cafe/salad place during your meal time or some places may allow you to bring back the left overs. You can even learn how to make them on your own and bring it home to cook for your family. Some jobs may offer free memberships or staff discounts to you which is attractive.
3. How long does it take to travel to work?
Be it student fare or adult fare, it is still very expensive! Time is money, we could earn that extra hour from travelling and have more rest before work. Look around the area by filtering the location in job apps. There may be a higher chance that they will hire you because of how near you are compared to the other applicants.

4. Will this be relevant for me in future?
Some may argue that part time jobs shouldn't be included in resume because it is insignificant and irrelevant when looking for a full time in the near future. Being a student, I feel it really does not matter whether it is relevant or not because it is an experience. You may find interest along the way and gain inspirations to start your very own business in the future. To find a part time job relevant to your studies may only be internships where commitments are quite high.

5. Can I commit to the hours/days?
Usually in the job post they will include the certain number of hours required or months of commitment. Select according to what you can commit, don't be afraid that you cannot meet certain requirement in the next few months because if you manage to get a reply, you can further discuss your concerns or to give them notice in advance.

Just apply as many jobs as possible because you never know which will get back to you. Prepare your resume and look for any that interests you. Knowing your schedule and plan out your time for the next month is very important to plan ahead and be ahead of time.

It is not easy, but you can do this. All the best in looking for the one.
