Robo War Experiment (RWE) Update – May 2024

Performance Update

Here is the May 2024 Performance Update:

All 5 robo advisors' portfolios and the 3 benchmark indices returned to black in May 2024. While the former suffered smaller losses as a group than the latter the previous month, they also made smaller gains in this month.

Comparing their YTD performance, most of them clocked in comparable 10.x%, except SqSave lower at 8.47 and S&P 500 higher at 12.72%. In terms of XIRR since inception, all except SqSave were in the black and StashAway returned to positive territory.

Key Observations

1. All 5 robo advisors and 3 benchmark indices returned to positive territory in May 2024.
2. YTD returns were mostly comparable among robo advisors and benchmark indices, except SqSave lower and S&P 500 higher.
3. All except SqSave were in the black in terms of XIRR since inception.
4. Specifically StashAway flip-flopped between negative and positive XIRR since February 2024.
5. Endowus remained the top XIRR performer among robo advisors.
