MissFITFI Reviews: The Razer Card (Big thanks to Seedly for making this possible!)

(First 1337 Beta Users)

So I just got my Razer card in the mail, and I wanted to talk about the Razer card today.

Before we start, big thanks to Seedly for making this possible!

It is very, very exciting to be one of the first 1,337 in the world to try out the Razer card.

And as a gamer, you probably know what 1337 means.

Heck, it is even their ticker code on the Hong Kong Stock Exchange.

First of all, for my LED loving friends out there, the premium card lights up on payment. For those guys who are not rabid about LED lights, it still makes for a cool party trick.

To note: I am reviewing the standard card as I not at the Razer Premium card level yet. Of course, I would either be working my way up to the Premium card, or a kind soul at Razer can send one so that I can review it. Whichever comes faster.

Through the Visa network, it also offers digital payments at over 61 million merchant locations worldwide where Visa is accepted, including online, in-store, contactless and chip transactions

Here's what the official press release says:

  • Razer Card, the only prepaid card offering year-long cashback features on all transactions

  • Razer Card users can access a unique gamified rewards experience via in-app system

  • Collaboration unlocks global acceptance of 61 million merchant locations for Razer Card users

  • Razer Pay users opt-in for a free virtual card and even upgrade to a physical card, including the Premium card – the world’s first card that lights up on payment

  • Beta testing open for 1,337 users to experience the Razer Card and get exclusive rewards

1% Uncapped Cashback for All Categories with No Minimum Spend

More importantly, The Razer Card is the only prepard card that offers year-long cashback features on all transactions. It has a 1% cashback for purchases made across all categories, which is fairly standard. However, there is no minimum spend and no capped limit for cashback, which makes it the only prepaid card in Singapore with no capped limit for cashback!

5% Uncapped Cashback on RazerStore and Razer Gold

In addition, Razer's site also mentions that it offers 5% cashback on the Razerstore and Razer Gold purchases. Now for those looking to get a pricier Razer Blade, a 5% cashback is actually significant for the Blade that costs upwards of $2,000. To further incentivise active testing, beta testers will enjoy increased 10 per cent cashback on RazerStore and Razer Gold purchases, and a slew of gamified Card Beta rewards where testers complete tasks, level up and stand to redeem up to S$2,000 worth of Razer gear and free card upgrades.

Gamified Rewards System

What I particularly like about this is the gamified rewards system through the Razer Pay app, where users can score and redeem rewards based on tasks and daily transactions. While some other platforms such as Fave used to try to gamify it by rewarding users with cashbacks upon hitting transaction targets, the Razer Pay rewards system would be super exciting for the Razer fan, purely because you get alot of Razer gear.

Random Perks

My very first transaction with Razer Pay was when they were running a $5 off $20 promotion for just one day. I was very pleasantly surprised to find that I was able to use Razer Pay to pay for my vietnamese meal at the Old Airport Hawker Centre, which I was really not expecting!

Still Some Teething Issues

Overall, a great card for the Razer fan boys. Additionally, I would say that the perks/discounts on the Razer card, aside from the Razer gear you get when levelling up, are not as attractive compared to some other cards. I did notice from user feedback and comments on Razer Pay's socials that some users had technical issues while using the card, so do expect some possible teething issues. My personal experience topping up the card and using it has been overall quite smooth, but I will update here if I encounter any issues in the future.
