20++ days into the new year and I'm still a couch potato, on a student budget, nothing has really worked out just yet afterall, gyms are incredibly expensive you know. Imagining myself lifting 6kg dumbells infront of the buff guys make me afraid of gyms in general.
That is why I prefer to run in parks where I look like Usain Bolt infront of the folks from the walker's club.
Another reason is that running allows me to spend less than $50 a year that is if you follow these tips.
First is for my boys out there! My RSM once said:
'If your 2.4 suck, you suck, don't blame your shoes'
To be fair, I have to agree with these words of wisdom or else I have to sign extra. But you do know you can get free running shoes with your SAF credits right?
Random Roy 'Eh bro, I can tell if you are a cheapo just by looking at your SAF shoes'
But if people can paint their shoes with acrylic, you can do it too.
Quick Tip: Just paint the soles full white and people will think it's just a regular running shoe
As for my ladies (you are not forgotten), the trick is to go to factory outlet stores but not to get this season shoes. You should be looking for out of season shoes because they are usually at least 50% cheaper.
Gone are the days where you sign up for an event, run the route and eat as much banana as you can at the refreshments point. What makes you think 1,000 people will be able to run together when I can only have 8 people at my place during Chinese New Year sobs
This is why virtual running events are very popular. Besides this, it is also very cheap and incorporates causes that people support. Like other live events, you would be able to wear that shirt with pride if you complete it.

I recently signed up for this event:

Wahhh can run any distance at the same price ah? Of course take the Marathon one lah!
Or so that was what I thought. Now I have to complete 42km in 2 weeks, that's 3km a day.
Speaking of resolutions, I will complete 42km by Febuary. But at least I jio-ed my friends to join me. (in groups of 5 of course)
There are also many different runs as well like the recent Star Wars Themed run, which nets you some exclusive merch, or runs that is a literal competition, with the top few winning prizes if you are competitive much.
There are so many things you could do to keep fit and have fun while spending almost no money.
