Your guide to navigating NFT/Crypto Twitter.

The NFT space is full of abbreviations and slang that will leave newcomers and outsiders equally confused, I hope I am able to reduce some of the possible confusion through this short article.

**1) GM
GM stands for “Good Morning”. The community greets each other whenever they start off their day to spread positive vibes.

2) GN
GN stands for “Good Night” The community ends the day by saying GN before saying GM in a few hours' time.

3) CT
CT stands for “Crypto Twitter”. Twitter has evolved into the number 1 social media platform for the crypto community to communicate with each other.4) WAGMI/GMI
WAGMI and GMI stand for “We’re all gonna make it” and “Gonna make it” respectively, it is the optimistic view of the future for everyone in the space.
Example: “Visa Bought a Punk, WAGMI”

5) NGMI
NGMI stands for “Not gonna make it”, it is commonly used to describe a decision that was made by an individual.
Example: “He just sold his Cool Cat, NGMI”

6) Ser
Ser means “Sir”, it is used to address another individual respectfully.
Example: “Hi Ser”

7) Ape/Degen
The act of buying a coin/nft without doing research or understanding a project.
Example: “I just aped into Cool Cats”

8) Few
A semi-condescending way of saying “few realise/understand”
Example: “ ETH is changing the world. Few.”

9) Probably Nothing
Similar to “Few”, it is an ironic way of saying it is probably something.
Example: “Facebook just redirected their attention to the metaverse. Probably Nothing.”

10) OG
OG stands for “Original Gangster”. It refers to people who were early in the space and earned respect.

11) Pleb
Opposite of OG, means noobie. Most people only use it on themselves.
Example: “I know nothing about ETH, I am a pleb”

12) Alpha
Alpha is a term used in the investing space that represents outperformance from the market from a person’s knowledge/skill.
Example: “Listen to her, she is dropping serious alpha”

13) Rug
Rug is short for rug pulled. It is the act of project developers running away from project funds and ditching the project.
Example: “The developers just rugged their investors and disappeared.”

14) Ded
Ded is short for Dead.
Example: “I sold for 1 ETH and it went up after, ded.”

15) DYOR/NFA
Short for “Do your own research” and “Not Financial Advice”
The person is removing any liability/responsibility from themselves when mentioning a project.
Example: “I just bought a Kong, NFA/DYOR”

16) Derivative
Projects that were derived/inspired by a previous project.
Example: “Chipto punks are a crypto punk derivative”

17) Roadmap
The plans that an NFT project has prepared to add value to the community in the future.
Example: “ The team has a token planned for the future”

18) Floor
The lowest asking price for a project on secondary markets.
Example: “The floor for crypto punks are 100 ETH”

19) FOMO
The fear of missing out
Example: “I FOMO-ed and bought into Cool Cats”

20) Cope
Opposite of FOMO, dealing with the effects of not FOMO-ing into a purchase.
Example: “Apes are at 30 ETH floor but I decided not to mint because it looked hopeless” “I'm Coping”

These are only a few of the many other abbreviations and slangs out there in the crypto and NFT space, the best way to learn is by spending time in the space and communicating with others on discord and Twitter.
