Should I use my CPF OA to invest for growth in equities or dividends from SGX?
The sad truth here is that SGX has terrible and very poor growth prospects. Rather you go with a robo like Endowus, i'm confident nett of fees will easily beat SG stocks anyday.

Hi WenHao, agreed with you on the part where one might want to consider delaying voluntary CPF-MA cash top ups, in anticipation of falling into a higher tax bracket in later years. Thanks for sharing!

For those who have reached FRS in their 30s or 40s, what are the things to focus next if we want to take full advantage of CPF policies?
Hi anon, Given that the bulk of CPF contributions will now flow to OA as you have reached FRS, (and presumbly, BHS is already achieved as well), then there shouldn't be a need to invest in OA to build up an amount for SA shielding, unless your OA is being used to service a housing loan, and the OA balance isn't increasing at all. Investing has its risks and if you cannot stomach it, leaving it in CPF to earn a risk free 2.5% to 4% is not a bad idea too. SRS can be considered for tax relief if you wish, assuming you hit the CPF annual limit every year. I'd invest the SRS monies as well, but with a long term view since I can't withdraw it till 62.

Should I still invest in CPF OA now if I want to migrate in 10 years?

Other than downpayment balance of 5% during key collection, are there any other payments required? Do people only set aside this amount and invest everything else while taking max loan tenure?
I'm in the same boat as you and plan to do just that. The only other expense I can think of is the first month's installment and renovation + furnishing (but these aren't deducted from CPF).

Is it possible to invest in S&P 500 using CPF?

Answered on 15 Dec 2020

Hi Anon, Yes we are the only option. You will have to choose the "Fund Smart" goal to select S&P 500 only. You can refer to Jiayee reply. As CPF has restrictions on what type of funds are included into the CPFIS investable universe, we have to work with local fund managers, and local funds to make them available on CPFIS. The lion global Vanguard US 500 is one of them. Hope this explains!

Anyone can share portfolio for Endowus Smart Fund and how is it doing?
I am invested in a mix of Infinity global stock index, infinity SP500, Dimensional Pac basin (APAC exposure) and Dimensional Emerging Market funds to replicate a globally diversified portfolio. I set it up this way to test out the fund smart platform. ! As many other members mentioned, over a short time frame, your returns will be dependent on your entry price and where the markets are at now. There is no point trying to say wich portfolio is better. You can check out our article on DCA https://endowus.com/insights/when-should-you-dollar-cost-average-dca/ to understand if you should invest lump sum. If its over a long time frame that you would want to stay invested, you should probably invest more on the onset.

Is CPF a good way you would recommend people to do investments?
Hi Anon, CPF has been the quintessential social security system for Singaporean’s retirement and before you embark on the journey of investing using your CPF fund, it is best you assess your risk profile as well as the time frame for the investments. You can refer to the CPF website for more information: CPF Investment Scheme - https://www.cpf.gov.sg/members/FAQ/schemes/optimising-my-cpf/cpf-investment-schemes/FAQDetails?category=optimising+my+cpf&group=CPF+Investment+Schemes&ajfaqid=2187051&folderid=11903

Is there accrued interest if I use the amount inside OA/SA for CPF IS, just like how I use the amount to pay for housing?
Hi anon, Accrued interest is only for housing, it does not apply to investments made under CPF IS. Your investment proceeds will be returned to your OA/SA when you sell off and you don't have to make up for anything.
