What is your advice for a 21 year old young adult who has little to no investment knowledge and what are the ways to begin investing as a total newbie?
Hi Anon, The first step of your investment journey would be to read up and understand what investing is. Although there are so many financial advisors out ther who can help you with this, I'd suggest that you go for a robo-advisory platform to do the job of assessing your current financial position and recommend a portfolio strategy after reviewing your risk profile. As for the "catch", I would say that Robo-advisors are still not very different from your ordinary financial advisors as both options will still have a management fee incurred for users. The difference lies with the amount, as Robo-advisors have lower management fees. I work at Kristal.AI, and my mojo is to help people make the right financial decisions. If you think I helped you, do give me "Thumbs up". If you think my response was biased let me know, I will work on it. I hope this helps you make the right decision.

I don't know whether if its a good time to invest on stocks due to the Covid-19 situation around the countries, plus now US is going to sue China for causing this virus spread. How do you think this will affect the markets?
I think getting a globally diversified porfolio, which will track the performance of the world's economy, can be good since you do not have a firm idea on what you want. Food and beverage companies can be resilient, especially if they are staples. However, these companies also tend to be more pricey. Healthcare REITS can be worth considering since there will be a gloabal awareness of the inadequacy of medical facilities and the ageing population. Personally, I wouldn't go for China stocks since their regulations, for example on accouting procedures, are not as stringent. If you want exposure to China, you can look at Hong Kong instead. All these are just rough thoughts on the industry, you will still have to do in-depth research on the stock/fund yourself.

Can I do DCA (dollar-cost averaging) on REITs ETF instead of investing into 2 or more REITs?

Yes you can but the fees (in $ not % for some) is not worth doing DCA on monthly basis. Most suggest a quaterly or half yearly basis so the volume is larger and more justifiable for the fees. Can read $$$ KPO blog to understand a little about REITS ETF: https://kpo-and-czm.blogspot.com/search?q=REIT+ETF

Ming Feng (Seedly) stated that you should reduce your asset allocation equities to pay off your loan first. If you believe in Buy Term Invest the Rest, isn't it practical to pay little and drag out the loan over time for higher investment returns?

I would pay "little" and i think it is practical to drag out loan over time. The answer is obvious, I am seeing there is a gap which i can gain. Interests rate = 1.88% for housing loan Investment return = 3-5% for a reatively conservative Instead of paying my loan, I will drag as long as the economy on my side. Monitoring every quarterly closely should be more than sufficient, rates wont go up overnight unless there is a crisis. There will be risks involved in this approach, but to leverage the "gap", yes it is worth it for me and many others.

If I have access to a low cost broker and am comfortable purchasing ETFs that track MSCI World, and don't mind the 5mins to rebalance my portfolio every half a year, what's the benefit of robo-advisors such as AutoWealth?
Rebalancing is recommended often, i am not convinced when you invest longterm. when some of your assets (winners) develop very strong why sell them for risk balancing ? if afterwards they drop relatively heavy, maybe they still sit better than the not so well appreciated... https://seedly.sg/questions/what-is-your-general-investing-philosophy-strategy

Is there any benefits of getting a higher coverage integrated shield plan (private/public A) if I'm comfortable with the level of care at public hospitals, and am willing to stay in B1 ward? ?

I am currently holding AIA Healthshield Gold Max (integrated shield plan) with Max Essential A (rider) - they cover me for a standard room in a private hospital. Putting myself in your shoes, the benefits that entails are: With my current coverage, in any case where I find myself hospitalised and not pressed for time, I will have the liberty to choose a B1 ward in a public hospital and will receive the daily hospital incentive from my Max Essential A (rider) of $250/day. E.g. If I was admitted for 5 days, I will get $1,250 for the voluntary-downgrade. I, too am comfortable with the level of care at public hospitals, but my reason for opting for a higher coverage is mainly for any dire situation where I find myself in and am unable to afford to wait for a hospital bed in a public hospital. Well, they say time is of the essense.. Maybe I'm not right in my POV of public hospitals, if someone could, please correct me too.

Hi! Just to share, we have just reimbursed the witholding tax refund last week to all clients who are entitled to it for the FY2017. If you received a reimbursement, you would have received an email from us informing you of this :)

For stock analysis, do we just do FSA? Do you also consider other factors (eg. read company announcements maybe company stock up money to prep for new project)?

I am trying to open an online trading account. What is the difference between self-directed online cash trading account and broker-assisted online cash trading account?
Self-directed means trade executions are done online, either through a desktop/web-based platform or a mobile app. Broker-assisted refers to the more traditional way of calling your broker/remisier to place the order/trade for you (and naturally attracts higher commission since the middle-man needs to be paid too). It is pretty common these days to see more self-directed trading, however in cases of emergency, you can usually still call their hotline for assistance at no extra charges for most.
