Which is better for gold investment - Physical gold through UOB Kay Hian or Gold ETFs (e.g. GLDM)?

I would prefer physical gold to have the real stuff in reach should there come a crisis (however the fees are probably high and you would need a good safe)

Gold ETFs have lower buying fees, I guess, and they are backed up by real gold, but somehow the ETF seems a virtual thing.
