What ETF should I start with? Should I start with lump sum or monthly investments?

Trying to step into investing. Have a lump sum ready, but I am afraid of timing the market. I have dbs Vickers and standard chartered trading account and POEMs.

You can start by reading my financial blog on ETF https://investment-blueprint.com/ Shameless plug I know!!!!

Contrary to the popular belief and to my horror some of the misleading answers posted, ETF is NOT an asset class. ETF is a more optimized investment vehicle than mututal fund / unit trusts.

Hey,
For new starter, do make sure you equip yourself with knowledge 1st. We want to be in the game for long term. So knowledge and skillset is the most important ones.

Invest only money that you can afford to lose. Start with small amout 1st. Then put more once you become better.

Set aside emergency fund at least 6 months. If you want to compound money faster, etf wouldn't really help much but it is less risky of cuz. Invest for the long term only. Long term, the odd of winning the game is with us.

Why ETFs? There are many asset classes out there.

So many people have bought STI ETF and not made much. By comparision, MSCI AP-Ex Japan ETF has far better returns than ETF, and there are Unit Trusts that beat MSCI AP-Ex Japan as well, with lower volatility.

You should consider how you would like your portfolio to look like, and if you would like other asset classes in your portfolio, beyond just ETFs. I'm not saying that ETFs are bad or good, but the investment world has many asset classes and it would be a waste not to explore them all.

You could start with a small base then do monthly.

I started with a base amount then did monthly for my investment with StashAway.

I will do it monthly DCA. So I can capture the lows...
