Since the funds for SRS is meant for use during your retirement, I will suggest for you to consider an annuity. This allows you to cover your expenses during your retirement years.
Furthermore, you may also consider investing your money to beat the market and grow your money. In the event that you are forced to withdraw the money early for emergency usage, the potential returns may be capable to help you cover the tax associated with it.
