Should you wait for the job you really want (say you're mid way through the hiring process) or accept the first offer that comes?

Hi there,
If you are interviewing for a couple of companies at the same time, it’s important to be strategic about it.

I think you can ask for a couple of days to get back to your first offer A if you are not sure and want to see if the other company (B for example) comes back with a offer to you.

Then, call the hiring manager of company B that you are more interested in and ask politely when you could expect to hear from them as you have been offered a job in company A (but there is no need to reveal the salary offered or the name of company A).

If company B gets back to you fast with an offer, you can be sure that they liked you and wanted you to be part of their company. However, if you still don’t hear from B after a reasonable time (before you need to respond to A), the ball is in your court then regarding the 1st offer.
