Most investment strategies involve a portion of bonds or fixed income. In the Singaporean context, is the CPF a viable substitute?

Our CPF accounts seem to double up for many roles in the a regular Singaporean's life. Do you all think it is a viable substitute as bonds/fixed income for investing? I'm planning to make some investments soon.

It depends on individual perpespective. To me, i feel that CPF can be part of my bond component as it gives me a decent interest and I will not be able to withdraw it till 55 years old so i will treat it as a bond.

Personally I don’t treat CPF as bond component as CPF do not provide much flexibility for rebalancing purpose, unless we are talking about taking CPF money to invest in bond. I would prefer to treat CPF as safety net and I will only build my portfolio by cash.
