Is spending on YouTrip worth the missing miles when used overseas?

YouTrip claims to charge zero exchange fee and offer competitive exchange rates.

I used to travel with my Citibank Premier Miles card. If offers 2 miles per dollar spent overseas. I always deposit the miles in my Krisflyer account. If YouTrip is used, I need to forgo the miles collected on my trip.

I'm no math talent so could someone please help me calculate if it's more worth it to use YouTrip or the Miles card?

Actually it could be > 3% mark up because foreign currency transactions are converted to USD first before conversion to SGD.

Using YouTrip, think about it as having 3% rebate (rough savings from FX markup), instead of getting 2 mpd, which I feel is not bad.

If you are booking online travel, use DBS Altitude to earn 3 mpd up to $5k a month. You could even get 4 mpd if you book SQ tickets via DBS Marketplace.

Citi PremierMiles charges a 3% fee on foreign currency transactions. Where as the spread on YouTrip is about 0.2%-0.4% from my past experience.

So effectively, you are paying 2.6%-2.8% for 2mpd which amounts to a mile costing 1.3-1.4 cents which is still a good price in my opinion given that most people would value for miles at about 1.8 -2 cents per mile ( market rates as well )

Something NOT Applicable for CitiPremier miles that you may want to take note of; it’s that some other travel cards do offer Free Airport Transfer when you hit a certain limit on overseas spending on top of the higher earn rate on overseas spending. So thats also something to take into consideration.
