Is it better to pay by the marked price or by instalment. Which is better? (Especially for mobile phones)

Especially when it comes to purchasing mobile phone, which payment is best in the Long run? What are the pros and cons.

Actually if you are able to get a 0% instalment plan, I would actually recommend you to do a X month instalment.

Mainly for me, I bought a TV for around $1.3k but split it up into 6 months, so I can hit my minimum spend on my credit card (BOC Family card - min spend = $800 monthly) to get the cash rebate on all my other spend. That to me, is the biggest pro factor :)

Wow I didn't know that monthly instalment repayment count towards cc min spend as well!

normally i am able to pay in full, but i choose to pay it via installment using credit card.

  1. earn cashback/rewards/miles etc
  2. earn some small of interest with the cash kept in bank account

I will usually pay one shot. I don't like having liabilities/debts. I'd like to be debt free as early as I can!

Pay one shot to get all the credit card miles or cash back

doing installments will not give you any cc perks
